Why would you buy a crib when you know you’re gonna have an abortion?
Obviously this is hypothetically speaking (or, looking!) This isn’t saying “here’s the crib they bought but they aborted the baby so now they have an empty crib in the house.” This is pointing out that you can choose life and have an adorable baby or you can choose an abortion and loose your own child. Pretty simple….
Your own adorable baby that grows up in a household that couldn’t handle it at the time but were pressured into keeping it by things like this. Fun!

Ok, maybe it is a coincidence. But note this.
The Equalists use chi blocking in their terrorist acts. Chi blocking is a form of combat, for sure, but think about it. Chi blocking, at least the kind shown by Ty Lee, involves dodging the opponent and blocking the opponent’s bending without physically harming them.
Doesn’t that sound like something an Airbender raised by a pacifist monk would endorse?
Tenzin’s father also happened to be the only survivor of a massacre that destroyed a group of pacifists just like him. And that massacre was instigated by benders.
Tenzin might just be trying to make things right.
